Somewhere near nature trails and beaches.
Tell us about an unforgettable place you have travelled?
I’ve had the good fortune of traveling throughout Asia during my career. Of all the destinations I’ve been to, India holds a special place. On one unforgettable trip I visited five cities across India, and was captivated by the diverse culture, incredibly friendly and hard-working people, great food, and rich history. The trip ended with a weekend in Goa, a beautiful seaside vacation destination that was once a former Portuguese colony.
What’s the one place that inspires you?
Being outdoors, whether on a hiking trail, the beach, the mountains, or visiting nature preserves.
What was the best souvenir you brought home from a vacation or trip?
My oldest son and I went on a Major League Baseball Park tour across the Midwest, travelling to five parks in one week. The highlight was visiting Wrigley Field during its 100th Anniversary – a memory I’ll always cherish, along with the special souvenirs from that trip.
Have you met anyone famous? If so, where did you meet them?
I’ve had the privilege of meeting several Value Investing legends while organizing a conference in New York City to honor Ben Graham. Among them were Seth Klarman, Walter Schloss, Bill Ruane, Peter Cundill, Chris Browne, and Mickey Newman, along with many successful contemporary value managers like Mario Gabelli, Bill Nygren, Mason Hawkins, and John Rogers. It was truly one of the highlights of my career.
